The best advice I have ever been given in life was to simply begin. To this day I still come back to that word when I feel frustrated, stuck, or simply in need of a kick of rear. This week we started to work in the studio. Our new space is by no means perfect as it is basically an unfinished box right now, but if I continued to wait in life for all to be perfect or even “ideal” I would find myself never moving forward.

This week we shot a lot of new content for the blog in the space that will transform into the studio space of our dreams. Since finding our home I have been so excited to begin again and to have a space that inspires me. With moving and traveling around so much in the last year having a solid and consistent space to create each day has been such an intangible dream. Since we started to create in this space, we are seeing and feeling what we will need. We have a lot of kinks to work out in order to make it everything we need, but I am loving this process of figuring it all out.

It has really challenged me to create in a space that isn’t perfect. At the end of the day we still made something beautiful and we learned a ton about this new phase of our life. There is beauty in the process of discovery. We just have to allow ourselves to change our perspective enough to see it that way.

Over the weekend we are getting some house things done and prepping for our week out in California. I am looking forward to heading west on Monday to rest up and gain inspiration from some of my favorite ladies at Designervaca. It will also be nice to take a small vaca with Mike to explore Palm Springs and LA. We have never been to either city together and I am looking forward to a little adventure after the hustle and commotion of moving.

I hope you each have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for all the love this week on my running post and the Simple Evening. It means a lot to know you love what we create so thank you for all the support. Yall inspire us!!!

Hello! I’m Megan Gilger,

A strong believer that nature and the seasons are our greatest teachers. We live on a hill in Leelanau County, Michigan just a stone’s throw from Lake Michigan. This land we are responsible for is where we are focused on building a life around the seasons and intention. We spend our days here building a regenerative model of living and focusing our garden on native plants and intensive polyculture planting styles. My focus is less on self-sufficiency and more on community-sufficiency through how we grow and connect through the seasons.
