Happy Monday everyone! Did you get your big cup of coffee this morning and wonder why am I up when it’s still dark? Yeah I hate with deep passion waking up when it is still dark but somehow and for some reason we all still do it. Thus why I do Monday Inspiration because we all need something to get through that first day in the week.

This week I wanted to show this amazing video that my wonderfully smart and talented husband (he wanted me to add those things 🙂 ) showed me this weekend.

This may be one of the coolest films I have seen in a while that explains what a true creator and artist is. You have to listen closely because it is easy to fall into the beautiful imagery and his melodic accent but I promise this may be the true description of an artist and the translation of thought and passion into imagery.  When I saw this I thought it was a perfect tie into my Friday post about images. I want to write out his script for this to make sure you get this all (see below).

This is what we were created for as humans. We were given our brains not to watch Glee but to be apart of something that pushes our bodies, minds, and senses everyday. If we do not do that than we have failed ourselves. This video touches a depth of humanity we have lost in past centuries. America has a national history of creators, dreamers, rebels, and visionaries and now we are fighting heart disease, diabetes, and alzheimer’s because we have lost touch with our bodies, our senses, and our minds. I find it sad and disappointing and even disgusting at times to see where our nation has come. I hope in the years to come humans do not fall deeper into this but see the world more like this. That life is no longer about accumulation or keeping up with the latest beats in the Entertainment industry and living through other people but rather we choose to each live a life full of thoughts, actions, and moments that stretch us as individuals.

Not to get political but that is what makes me on to push myself everyday and I felt this video captured all of those feelings in 6 minutes. So watch it. It is gorgeous and beautiful (I tried to capture most of what he says but I have a hard time understanding everything but this gives you a good idea):

Life is something I was raised to embrace.
My ma encourages us to open our eyes and hearts to the world.
Make up our minds from experience or be inspired.
I see life in angles and lines of perspective.
The slow turn of the head a blink of an eye, subtle glimpses of magic.
Cameras help me translate, interrupt, and understand what I see. It’s a simple act that keeps me grinning.

I never set out to become anything in particular. Only to live creatively and push the scope of my experience for adventure and for passion. This is all still something that means something to me same as most anyone with dreams.

My heart bleeds Celtic blood and I am magnetized to familiar frontiers. Raw brutal cold coastlines that ask for challenge, but this is where my heart beats hardest.

I try to pay tribute to that magic through photographs. Whether from the endless storms in the winter they are both a blessing and curse that I relish. I want to document it the way I see it in my head and the way I feel it in the see. It is a strange sense of skills to begin to acquire and it is only achievable through time spent riding waves all sorts of waves on all sorts of crafts and more time learning out in the water. Floating in the sea amongst the swells you always learn something. They have been a lifelong wise old classroom teacher of sorts and hope they always will be.

Buried beneath headlines shaped in the coast. Mind blowing images of empty waves blowing away at me. Solid ocean swells powering through deep cold water. Heavy waves, waves with weight. The coast can ignite the imagination and create some divine spark whisper possibilities, conger a situation I love to thrive amongst and love to document.

We all take knocks in the process. Names tons of injuries…broken arm, fractures, and that’s just the last couple years. I still look forward to the cold creeping into your core driving you mad day after day. Mumbling to yourself while waiting for the next set to come. The Dark Side of the lens.

I never want to take this for granted so I try to keep my motivation simple. Real and positive. If I ever scape a living at least it’s a living worth scraping. There is no future in it at least the present worth remembering. For fires of happiness or waves of gratitude for everything that brought us to this point on earth to th
at moment in time to do something worth remembering, a photograph, or a scar. I feel genuinely lucky to hand on heart say I love doing what I do and I may never be a rich man but if I live long enough i certainly will have a story or two for the nephews and I dig the thought of that.
