I awoke this morning with such excitement. Travel. Adventure. It is so close.

This week begins 2 months of being home very very little. It begins a new chapter of pushing myself. I will begin this time by first making a quick trip to Chicago, then next to Palm Springs for a ladies’ designer retreat at the Ace, and then I will be back for only a week before heading on to Europe.

I think the best part of all this is the excitement of learning, changing, and viewing life differently at the end of it all. In the past I have quoted Amelia Earhart but I feel it once again applies here:

The more one does and sees and feels, the more one is able to do, and the more genuine may be one’s appreciation of fundamental things like home, and love, and understanding companionship.
-Amelia Earhart

While we are in Europe we will be in Paris for most of the time working with Jonathan Grant on an amazing project we are doing for our Alma Mater, Asbury University. They will be opening a satellite campus in Paris so we will be creating a video and various other deliverables to provide students an idea of what they will be able to experience within this new program. It is amazing to be able to work with our school again, especially after those 4 years that helped shape us so much. We loved the idea mostly because it was a chance to give back and give other students an experience we could have only dreamed about while we were there. Both Mike and Grant were able to take time abroad in Paris through a smaller version of this program, so we all feel this is a pretty incredible opportunity.

Though I cannot take you all in my suitcase (no for real I really wish I could!), I hope to share with you as much of my experience as possible. So some regular columns may change slightly…as in I may be doing a Just 5 in our Paris apartment, or Megan Styled may be on a cobble stone street in Bordeaux or at a small market in northern Italy, but I promise it will bring something new and fresh as the seasons change and snow begins to fall. Do you all think you are okay with that?

If any of you have been over to Paris or Italy please give me any recommendations. I would love to see some of your favorite places. I plan to eat my way through it all while walking as much as possible so bring on the recommendations.

Happy Monday you all! Let’s be more adventurous today! Say more I will’s than I can’ts.

Hello! I’m Megan Gilger,

A strong believer that nature and the seasons are our greatest teachers. We live on a hill in Leelanau County, Michigan just a stone’s throw from Lake Michigan. This land we are responsible for is where we are focused on building a life around the seasons and intention. We spend our days here building a regenerative model of living and focusing our garden on native plants and intensive polyculture planting styles. My focus is less on self-sufficiency and more on community-sufficiency through how we grow and connect through the seasons.
