Back in October I believe…gosh it seems like forever ago…the Simply Blue Weddings team decided we needed to let everyone know what Simply Blue was really about and why we were so passionate about this project. There are tons of ways we could have done this but we knew the best way was for our team members to be ourselves and be amongst what makes Northern Michigan the orchards, the water, the fields, the vineyards, the woods. We could not think of anything better.

So on one gorgeous fall day we sat in chairs amongst nature telling our brides, vendors, and potential supporters and followers why we are so crazy passionate and stubborn about this area. Yes I love it and I am crazy about it. There is something about waking up in the morning to the smell of fresh clean water and the smell of an orchard in the fall. Nothing can be better than that and thus the reason I have not scooted off to LA or Chicago to work but instead work in one of the most beautiful places in the world with some of the most talented people I have ever met.

Enjoy this gorgeous video by Eleven35 Productions featuring Cory of Weber Photography, Cammie and Andy of Epicure Catering, Alicia of A Day in May Events, Marla of Marla Courtney Wood Floral, and yes your’s truly. Enjoy this moment I don’t jump in front of cameras very often.

Hello! I’m Megan Gilger,

A strong believer that nature and the seasons are our greatest teachers. We live on a hill in Leelanau County, Michigan just a stone’s throw from Lake Michigan. This land we are responsible for is where we are focused on building a life around the seasons and intention. We spend our days here building a regenerative model of living and focusing our garden on native plants and intensive polyculture planting styles. My focus is less on self-sufficiency and more on community-sufficiency through how we grow and connect through the seasons.
