Mike and I are neat freaks, but growing up I was never that way, you can ask my parents. They always were reminding me to clean my room all the time, but nowadays there is no need to nag me into cleaning. In fact, I kind of love it and find satisfaction in a clean space. I love things being put into their places. I love the baseboards being clean. I love the bathroom being put together. Here is the reality, though, we are busy and it doesn’t always happen as I would hope it would.
Part of me had to relax my neat freak ways after we had Hayes and he started moving, for a while, we hired help, which we still do from time to time (there is nothing better than coming home from a trip to a top to bottom clean house). Instead, these days we make a point to clean certain things as we can. We set aside times to get specific tasks done in our house so that the bathrooms get done often enough and the showers cleaned before guests come. It is hard to keep a clean house especially when you have an active little one wanting to discover everything. One thing we do that eases our ” inner clean freak” is that we choose a few tasks every weekend to pick away at getting our house top to bottom deep cleaned. Even though we used to spend every weekend doing the whole house, it no longer is possible that way with a busy 1-year-old. So we partnered with Lemi Shine to share 5 places that should be cleaned this spring. All are possible and actually very easy because of Lemi Shine. If you haven’t checked out their products or seen them before, we suggest checking them out to help with your spring cleaning this year. They are creating some great cleaning products that are safe and effective!
Around our house, we all pitch in. Mike and I share our cleaning duties 50/50 in our house and we love using these easy cleaning tips from clean home lab. We both enjoy the tasks and now that Hayes is older he actually enjoys when we clean while he plays. It has a tendency to be a family activity and most of the time we get these things done in the mornings on the weekends. This last weekend we conquered all 5 of these places in our home during a very spring-like weekend.
Wash those dishes and items that you don’t use much but need a refresh:
We all have those items that sit on our shelves and get very little use, right? We have quite a bit because of the gatherings we do, but this is a great time of year to spruce them up and get them sparkly clean. We used Lemi Shine’s Dish Booster and Dish Detergent packets to get the dishes extra clean for upcoming gatherings this spring and summer.
Refresh Your Dishwasher:
We sometimes forget that the place that cleans things for us sometimes needs to be cleaned as well. Honestly, I forget all the time, but the spring is a great time to give your dishwasher a freshening up. Getting rid of hard water stains and buildup isn’t easy but Lemi Shine had us try their Dishwasher Cleaner out to help make it easier. All you do is toss it in the base of the dishwasher and let it run empty. Not bad, right?
Clean the Cabinets:
It is easy to forget that the cabinets need to be scrubbed down just like our counters do. With a toddler running around who enjoys making art with his milk bottle or running his sticky fingers over the fronts of cabinets, the cleaning of cabinets is extremely important. It is amazing what a good scrub can do. We used Lemi Shine’s Everday Cleaner to get off even the toughest messes Hayes has left around.
Wash the Windows:
I am always shocked at how much collects on the windows through the winter months. So I find it extra satisfying to clean the windows and literally let the light in in the spring. Washing inside and out is important to achieve a crystal clear window. We loved how Lemi Shine did the trick with their Glass Cleaner.
Give Your Washer a Good Washing:
Like your dishwasher, your washer needs some love too. I personally find the washer gets far dirtier than the dryer. I washed our’s down with the Everyday Cleaner and then used Lemi Shine’s Washer Cleaner after I washed it all. This way it could smell fresh and be ready to take on the next big load of laundry. Now, that we are starting to play outside, our washer is going to be getting a lot of work. Probably a great idea we are starting fresh.
I think there is nothing more satisfying and relaxing then a clean house on a spring day. We love ending the day with a clean home because it offers the perfect place canvas for a new day. What do you like to make sure gets cleaned in spring? Do you do spring cleaning? Would love to hear what you make sure gets refreshed in preparation for the warmer months.
