More Than Ordinary: Natural Deodorants

More Than Ordinary: Natural Deodorants | The Fresh Exchange

Over the last couple of years, we have slowly been replacing our traditional body care products with as many all natural products as possible. Deodorant has probably been the most difficult skin care product to go natural with. We aren’t ready to go completely without deodorant yet, that is still too natural for us. However, we have slowly been trying and testing a lot of different deodorants as we run out. So I thought it was time to share what I have found in the process. Below are the nine best deodorants we have tested but I know there are more out there.

More Than Ordinary: Natural Deodorants | The Fresh Exchange

Herban Cowboy $8.72  |  Via Nature $7.08  |  Baxter $17.98  |  Every Man Jack $8.31  |  EO $5.99  | Onnit $9.95 | Burt’s Bees $8.60  |  Acqua Di Parma $37  |  URSA Major $17.98

Each deodorant has its strengths, and weaknesses, but overall with price/smell/ingredients the best overall is the one with the worst name. The Herban Cowboy, ah that name is awful, but it works great and doesn’t dry your skin out. But give them all a try and leave a comment if you are wondering about any of these or if you have tried them yourself.

Smell ya later.

  1. This is so timely since I bought my first natural deodorant last week. I’m trying Tom’s but it isn’t lasting long enough. Thanks for these recommendations!

  2. For about a year, I used the Salt Stick and loved it… until it no longer worked for my body. I’ve since been using the cream by Meow Meow Tweet (almost four years now) and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

  3. My husband and I have been trying to do the same thing. I started using this deodorant cream about 9 months ago and am pretty pleased: http://fatandthemoon.com/deodorant-cream/ As you said, there seems to be pros and cons to each brand and nothing truely replaces good ol’ fashioned Secret, which I still use on business trips (stress sweat!). Love reading through other peoples suggestions. Thanks for the post!

  4. On natural deos I really like Tom’s line, the lavender is lovely.

if you are looking to replace harsh chemicals in your bathroom a great app is “think dirty’ it gives you alternatives to the harsh chemicals products. I’ve been using it to remove all the nasty stuff out of my bathroom and cleaning supplies

  5. I’ve tried SO many natural deodorants and most of them have (sadly) ended up in the garbage. i have a new favourite and it’s the only brand I buy now: Routine Deodorant Cream. They have so many awesome ones but my very FAVOURITE is SWEET JANE. THANKS FOR SHARING your recommendations guys!

  6. i USE THE tOM’S LAVENDER DEODORANT RIGHT NOW AND i’M HAPPY WITH IT. tHANKS FOR THE OTHER SUGGESTIONS – i HAVEN’T HEARD OF A FEW OF THOSE BRANDS BEFORE. i’VE BEEN COLLECTING RECIPES TO MAKE MY OWN AND i’D LOVE TO TRY THAT SOON TOO. aFTER YEARS OF IRRITATION AND MOST RECENTLY, WHAT APPEARED TO BE CHEMICAL BURNS FROM A PARTICULAR BRAND OF DEODORANT, i’M OUT OF PATIENCE FOR MOST BRANDS!

  7. These are great! I also hapPen to love the deoderants made By meow meow tweeT – theY have some with aNd without baking soda for those of us with more sensitive armpits…!

  8. I Have stop using deodorant for maybe a year or two. I guessed it darken my skin as read in the internet. But some days in summer, i really WANTED to use deodorant. Maybe I should try one of these natural DEODORANT. Thanks for sharing!

    1. If you are just using it on occasion I highly suggest the EO. They have a couple different scents. Just be aware not to shave your armpits and then apply. The alcohol can be rather harsh, but it works awesome other than that.

  9. My favorite is the Jason’s Tea Tree Oil. Brandon uses the Every man jack. They work great and it’s nice to know that we aren’t harming ourselves to prevent a little smelliness.

  10. Finding a natural deodorant has been near the top of my list for awhile. I was so excited to see this pop up here! Its giving me the extra push to find the perfect one and I’m excited to look into these. I have also heard really good things about Primal Pit Paste (http://primalpitpaste.com/). Let the testing begin…
